Join your peers on August 14 to learn more about the final legislative outcome regarding lobbying registration changes and what's ahead with the lobbying study.

The Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board was tasked with studying whether the laws regulating lobbying should distinguish between lobbying of public officials and lobbying of local officials in political subdivisions. In particular, the Board was directed to study the statutory definitions of "lobbyist," "local official," "public official," and "official action of a political subdivision" as provided in Chapter 10A. The Board will report the study results to the legislature in January 2025. It may include legislative recommendations on distinctions between the lobbying of public and local officials that the Board believes are warranted and appropriate. The Campaign Finance Board has notified that the study group will begin meeting on August 19.

This virtual webinar will take a deeper dive into the issues, answer questions, and allow MGRC members to share any feedback. Comments will be anonymized and aggregated into a formal submission to the CFB on behalf of the MGRC membership. If you are unable to attend the webinar and would like to submit a written comment, please send it to [email protected] before 10:00 a.m. on August 16.

Register today! A confirmation and event link will be sent to all registered guests the day before the event. Fees are complimentary to MGRC members, and $25 for non-members.

A recording of the webinar will be made available.
